Midwest Fringe circuit 2010 tour application

This was reposted from the site United States Fringe Festivals, run by Matthew Foster. It's a great resource to visit!

In 2010, four Fringes in the Midwest—Kansas City, Minnesota (Minneapolis-St. Paul), Indianapolis and Chicago—are offering producers the chance to create a tour with one simple application. Two slots in each festival are reserved for the Midwest Fringe circuit. If you apply and if your application is selected in a special touring lottery, you'll be guaranteed a place in each festival. It's that simple!

2010 Midwest Fringe dates

July 25–August 1: Kansas City Fringe Festival
August 5–15: Minnesota Fringe Festival (Minneapolis-St. Paul)
August 19–29: Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival
September 1–5: Chicago Fringe

2010 tour application rules

1. Your application is due to the Minnesota Fringe Festival office by noon Central on Thursday, December 31, 2009. You may fax, mail or scan and email your application to:

Minnesota Fringe Festival
Attn: Midwest circuit lottery
528 Hennepin Av #503
Minneapolis MN 55403
Fax: (866) 596-3224
Email: midwest@fringefestivals.us

2. Two applications will be selected in a lottery on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 3 p.m. Central. The lottery will be broadcast live (and results will be posted immediately) at fringefestival.org. Each producer or production company is limited to one application.

3. There is no application fee for this lottery. If your application is selected in the circuit lottery, you will be guaranteed a standard production slot in each of the four participating Fringes: Kansas City, Minnesota, Indianapolis and Chicago. If your circuit application is drawn, you must fill out a standard application and pay all fees by stated deadlines to each festival individually.

4. There is no wait list for the circuit lottery. If a selected company drops out, its production slot will be filled according to the rules set by each festival. Applicants not drawn for the two touring slots are welcome to apply to each festival individually.

5. We encourage (but don’t require) touring producers to bring the same show to all four festivals. This increases your chances for press and good word-of-mouth to build over the circuit.

6. Producers must abide by all rules of each festival, including:

  • Run time of 45 to 60 minutes
  • Set up and strike each performance in 10 minutes
  • A minimum of 80 percent scripted material

7. Any questions? Just ask!
